The Gosder Cherilus Foundation began with a simple but powerful belief: we all have the ability—and the responsibility—to help others. Founded by former NFL player Gosder Cherilus, the foundation is a reflection of his roots, values, and vision for creating positive change.

Biography of Gosder Cherilus
Gosder Cherilus was born in Haiti and raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, where he learned firsthand the challenges faced by underserved communities. Growing up in a tight-knit family, he understood the value of hard work, discipline, and the power of opportunity. His upbringing instilled in him a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility—values that would shape both his athletic career and his life beyond the field.

Gosder’s talent and drive led him to an impressive football journey. He played college ball at Boston College before being selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Over the next several years, he became known as a fierce and dependable offensive lineman, playing for both the Lions and the Indianapolis Colts. But even at the height of his professional success, Gosder never lost sight of where he came from—or the people and places that shaped him.

After retiring from the NFL, Gosder shifted his focus from protecting quarterbacks to uplifting communities. Through the Gosder Cherilus Foundation, he’s dedicated his time and resources to creating meaningful change, particularly in the U.S. and Haiti. What started as a passion project has grown into a mission—one focused on filling real needs, inspiring youth, and building lasting impact in the places that need it most.
